Chatham-Kent is getting rave reviews from some of the best curlers in the world as the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling comes to an end.

The Thames Campus Arena was packed throughout the tournament, with virtually sold out crowds for almost every draw.

Brad Gushue, whose Newfoundland team won the Men’s Elite 10 title yesterday, says the success of the tournament is all thanks to the volunteers who helped put it together.

“Of all the Slams that I’ve played, this one is right up there for the otp ones for volunteers and how much they cared and helped us, even just walking by, a smile and saying good to see you,” Gushue says. “Hopefully we’ll be back in the next couple of years, especially with the crowds, I hope it was well received in the community as well.”

Anna Hasselborg of Sweden and her team were crowned the first ever women’s Elite 10 champions earlier in the day on Sunday.
