As the nomination deadline quickly approaches, another name has come forward in the race for a seat on municipal council.
Melissa Harrigan is running for one of two council seats in Ward 1.
The Jeanette’s Creek resident is Manager of Innovation and Change Management at TransForm Shared Service organization, the West Kent representative for the CKHA’s Rural Health Advisory Committee, and serves on the board at the YMCA.
“My work and volunteer experience have prepared me well for the role. I understand government and process, and can appreciate the importance of community and business planning. I work in a regional environment on a daily basis, and would bring skills such as strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration to council for the benefit of Chatham-Kent.”
Harrigan says her main priorities in Chatham-Kent include small business, agriculture, and infrastructure.
She’ll be going up against incumbents Bryon Fluker and Mark Authier, along with Mark Pastorius for one of two West Kent seats.
The deadline for nominations is July 27th, and Chatham-Kent residents head to the polls October 22nd.
