American officials are keeping tabs on the St Clair River and area waterways following a devastating fire on Harsens Island.
Six cottages at the Old Club historic resort were destroyed by fire yesterday, and two other buildings suffered extensive damage. No injuries have been reported as the vacation homes were primarily used during the summer.
Reports say the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
Officials with the yacht club say the board of directors is bringing in a professional team of environmental specialists to advise on clean up and mitigate any environmental impact.
