Lambton OPP are investigating a hate crime following the Petrolia and Enniskillen Fall Fair this past weekend.

The owners of the Truckin Mamas on the Run food truck posted on social media Sunday morning after finding a pride flag hung by a noose on their vehicle.

Officials with the fair itself later posted an online statement, saying they were disgusted by such a hateful act.

“The Petrolia fair is for everyone,” the statement reads. “We love and support our LGBTQ2S+ community and we want you to know that despite this hateful act our fair is a safe place for you and we will work hard to make sure this remains a safe place for everyone!”

Provincial Police have been tight-lipped about the situation, saying only that they continue to investigate.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
