The removal of the all-way stop at the corner of Murray and Reaume has been put on the back burner, at least for a few days.
Councillor Jeff Wesley says the stop signs will stay in place until at least Monday night, when the issue will be back up for discussion at council.
“Mayor Hope really helped us out and came to bat for myself and Councillor Carmen McGregor on this issue and so I give him lots of credit for getting this delayed until Council on Monday. So what we have to do on Monday is basically get the rest of Council or at least the majority of Council to support delaying the removal of the 4-way stop until after all of the construction is done”, says Wesley.
Wesley is urging anyone who travels down Murray or Reaume to contact council by emailing council@chatham-kent.ca.
He says your voice can make a difference.
“If there are citizens out there who have strong feelings one way or the other on the issue, they should let Council know their thoughts on the issue. There certainly are no guarantees on Monday and I know that staff still feel that they’d like to go forward with their original plan but they’ve at least delayed it until Monday so we can have a discussion with Council”, Wesley explains.
