A municipal program to help residents get rid of things like old paint cans and fluorescent lights has been delayed because of COVID-19.
Chatham-Kent’s household hazardous waste day, which had been scheduled for September 12th, has been postponed until further notice.
The program has been running locally since 2001, keeping materials that could potentially injurie collection workers or cause environmental damage out of regular garbage containers.
Last year, more than 1400 residents took part in the program.
A new date will be announced as soon as municipal officials feel it is safe to do so under COVID-19 safety protocols.
