The third night of Chatham-Kent budget deliberations will take place tonight.

While this could possibly be the last night of deliberations, council still has a number of things to consider, such as whether to give the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) a $500,000 one-time grant for a 10-bed residential withdrawal management unit at the Chatham hospital site.

After two meetings the proposed tax increase now sits at 2.99%, which is down from a starting point of a 4.74% when the draft budget was first released.

If council can’t wrap up budget deliberations tonight, they are scheduled to meet up tomorrow night and Thursday night, if needed.
