The future of local health care was on the minds of many at a community meeting put on by the Wallaceburg and Walpole Island Health Coalition. FCKHA_CKHACampuses_WebGraphic_01AP11

The group is conducting a survey of area residents to find out what services they need at the Sydenham hospital.

Co-chair Shirley Roebuck says early results show residents have a lot of valid concerns.

“People don’t like driving to obtain health care, some people cannot drive to obtain health care,” Roebuck says. “They want the Wallaceburg hospital’s services to remain and expand, but it’s imperative that the supervisor [of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance] and Eric Hoskins, the Minister of Health, know exactly what we’re fighting for  here.”

Copies of the brief questionnaire can be picked up or dropped off at the CKXS studio on James Street.

The deadline for submissions in November 30th.
