A local family living with contaminated well water is hoping for the best in the wake of a health hazard investigation launched by the province.

Angela and Jim Leveille have been living off a water tank since their Caledonia Road water well went bad.

Angela and Jim Leveille put in a brand new well at their Caledonia Road home five years ago, but five days after construction began on a nearby wind turbine, their well plugged with sediment.

“I’m trying to be optimistic, but for several yers now we’ve been listening to things and I have a hard time trusting and believing,” Angela Leveille says. “You know, it’s like with a teenager when you’re having issues with them, you have to prove I can trust you.”

An independent five-member expert panel is beginning the task of looking into complaints from as many as 189 well owners in North Kent and Dover to determine whether their water is safe to drink.
