HeatToday is the first day of summer and with it comes a heat warning from Environment Canada.

Temperatures have been rising over the weekend and will peak today in the mid-30s with a humidex of around 38c or 100f.

The mercury is expected to begin dropping off as the week progresses.

When the heat rises, everybody needs to be careful especially young children and infants, older adults, and those with chronic illnesses.

Drinking plenty of fluids before feeling thirsty, dressing for the weather, and spending a few hours each day in a cool place are a few things you can do to beat the heat.
