Municipal council is looking to see what can be done to give evacuated Wheatley residents a bit of a financial break.
At tonight’s Chatham-Kent council planning meeting being held online, council will discuss passing a bylaw crediting the municipal taxes of Wheatley homes and businesses that have been impacted by the long-term evacuation order in Wheatley.
The credit would be for just over 40% of the 2021 taxation year.
A large section of Wheatley’s downtown has been evacuated since the August 26th explosion which destroyed two buildings and sent seven people to hospital.
