Wallaceburg resident Krystal Gyuricza put a call out to her friends and family and was able to collect over 20 boxes of food to donate to the local food bank.

“Last year I did this in about two weeks and I gathered six boxes,” Gyuricza says. “This year I actually got a list from the ladies here and put a post out (on social media) hoping for 12 boxes, and 21 boxes later, here we go!”

Officials at the Society say the donation will help support their Christmas hamper program.

“This will really help fill the hampers,” Mary Sue Bechard, secretary at St Vincent de Paul says. “The community’s been so great, people are stepping up all the time to help meet our goal.”

Bechard says the need in Wallaceburg is growing with as many as 55 families rely on the food bank for support each month.
