Local farmers and producers are raising awareness about the important role their industry plays, both in Chatham-Kent and across the country.
In honour of Canada’s Agriculture Day today, the Kent Federation of Agriculture is once again holding a food drive in support of the Salvation Army and Outreach for Hunger.
Organizers say it’s an opportunity for producers to share their pride and help consumers draw a closer connection to where their food comes from and the people who produce it.
Curbside donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army, 46 Orangewood Boulevard in Chatham between 9am and 11am. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, participate on site is limited and safety protocols will be in place.
Chatham-Kent is home to a $4-billion dollar agriculture and agri-food industry, responsible for more than 16,000 jobs.
