After vandals ripped apart washrooms in Wallaceburg’s Glen Mickle Park earlier this year, a Ward 1 councillor is hoping to prevent these crimes all over the municipality.

Mark Authier is asking administration to look into how much it would cost to install cameras outside the washrooms at parks in various communities across CK.

“The problem is this has been happening for years and nothing has been done about it,” Authier says. “We’re going to come back with (a report on) what it would cost to put the cameras in and monitor it.”

Administration will prepare a report comparing the cost of cameras and other preventative measures, and comparing it to the cost of repairing the damages year over year.

It’s hoped the report will be back before council by spring at the latest.
