‘Her Fight Is Our Fight’ Campaign To Support Local Women With Cancer

Melissa Harrigan

A fundraising campaign in support of West Kent councillor Melissa Harrigan and her fight against breast cancer is expanding.

The Her Fight is Our Fight campaign initially began earlier this month as a t-shirt fundraiser but has now grown to support cancer treatment for patients at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Donations to the campaign will go towards the purchase of a new VELA Mammography Chair, which is optimized for patients who need to sit down during breast examinations. As well, additional funds will be used to support cosmetic enhancements to the Mammography room at CKHA.

Harrigan announced her cancer diagnosis in mid-December, shortly after being re-elected to her second term on municipal council. She has temporarily stepped aside from her council duties to focus on treatment and recovery, as well as advocating for screening, early detection and preventative health care for women.

If you would like to support Melissa’s cause, Her Fight is Our Fight t-shirts can be purchased online or donations can be made by clicking here.
