For the first time in a generation, Chatham-Kent has brighter days of economic and population growth ahead.
That’s according to a report by Watson and Associated Economists that was presented to council earlier this week.
Spokesperson Jamie Cook says residential real estate market has shown signs of increasing strength in recent years.
“After about 25 years of steady population decline, Chatham-Kent for the first time is starting to see positive population and housing growth and economic growth,” Cook says. “And it’s not just us saying that, it’s a lot of the other statistics that are out there now, StatsCan estimates, the Labour Force survey data for example.”
Cook says the trend is expected to continue through at least 2021.
