Health officials have issued an advisory due to high levels of bacteria at one of Chatham-Kent’s public beaches.
According to Chatham-Kent Public Health, a recent test of the water at Clearville Beach in Muirkirk has registered high levels of E. Coli.
While the beach will remain open, health officials said there is always a risk of injury or illness when swimming in water with high E. Coli, which can also contain other harmful germs.
CK Public Health will post beach closure signs when a significant risk to health and safety has been identified, such as a blue-green algae bloom.
The health unit collects water samples from public beaches within Chatham-Kent between June and September to test for the presence of E. Coli bacteria.
