Earlier this week, an Essex OPP officer was doing traffic enforcement on Deer Run Road when a car whipped past, going more than 100 kilometres an hour over the posted 60 km/hr limit.
Authorities say the vehicle then left the road and crashed into a hydro pole, leaving the powerline laying across the road.
The 20-year-old driver wasn’t hurt, and has now been charged with failing to stop, stunt driving, and driving without insurance.
The drivers’ licence has been suspended and vehicle impounded pursuant to the regulations of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
The intersection was closed for approximately one hour as the hydro line and pole were repaired.
