As rain continues to drench southwestern Ontario this afternoon, officials with the St Clair Region Conservation Authority are asking residents to be careful.

With as much as 35mm of rain expected and wet snow in some areas, officials say the lack of snow cover and wet ground conditions may result in higher than normal water levels in area rivers and streams, as well as ponding in low-lying areas.

The Texas low-pressure system making its way across the region is also bringing strong winds, gusting to between 50 and 60 km/hr into tomorrow.

Residents are reminded to avoid watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous conditions, slippery banks and cold, swift moving water.
