A winner has been confirmed in this week’s massive CKHA Foundation 50/50 draw.

Emily Geroux of Highgate has claimed the winning ticket worth $172,870.

Geroux called CKXS after checking her ticket Thursday morning, and says she’s overwhelmed.

“It’s surreal, I’m shaking in my boots, I didn’t know what to do,” Geroux says. “I’m thinking is this for real? I’ve never won anything like this.”

While still coming to grips with her luck, Geroux says she’s got an idea of what they’ll spend her winnings on.

“Pay off your bills and stuff like that, put some money aside, maybe trade in our truck for a little bit larger truck. I don’t know! I’m just trying to let it sink in here.”

Along with Geroux’s windfall the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance also receives $172,870 to help pay for a key piece of imaging equipment for the new urology department.

A total of 9,671 tickets accounting for 1,194,410 numbers were sold for this year’s Igniting Healthcare 50/50 fundraiser.
