Historic Downtown Chatham BIA Launching Mural Project

More public art is coming to downtown Chatham.

Officials with the Historic Downtown Chatham BIA have issued a call for artists to help create a new mural for the side of the River Rock nightclub at 187 King Street West.

The mural, which will be installed on three panels on the east-facing wall of the building at the corner of Fourth Street, will follow the theme “inspire community pride through the exploration of our history and heritage within Chatham.”

The final mural will be selected by a jury of experts, with digital images of the winning submissions printed and installed on the site as a triptych of panels, each measuring 9′ wide by 12′ high.

The original works will then be sold through an online auction with all proceeds going back to the winning artist.

The deadline for submissions is November 30th. The winners will be announced online December 30th, and the final product is expected to be unveiled during Retrofest in May, 2025.
