Haunted buildings, floods and shipbuilding will be just some of the topics of an upcoming history tour of downtown Chatham.

A Downtown Chatham History Walk will be held on April 5, led by Clair Culliford of The Veranda Presents.

The tour will take walkers around the buildings and places of Chatham’s downtown core, with stories provided about arson, 200 years of floods on the Thames River, the Black Mecca, the opera house, famous criminals, and crimes.

The tour will run from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. with attendees asked to meet under the Centennial Clock in front of the Downtown Chatham Centre, at the corner of King Street West and Fifth Street. The walk is free to attend but monetary tips are welcome.

The Veranda Presents will host similar walks throughout the summer with the next one on April 12, focusing on murals in downtown Chatham.
