Those less fortunate in Chatham-Kent will benefit from a big donation from a holiday concert.

Holiday Jam for Hunger raised roughly $4000.

Organizer Alysson Storey says the money will go a long way to help those in need in the community.

“Food insecurity in our community is a huge issue, it’s the highest it’s ever been. We have a lot of folks who are struggling and anything we can do to help ease that struggle,” Storey says. “We’re supporting Hope House – the Chatham-Kent Mental Health Network this year and the Chatham-Kent Outreach for Hunger. Every dollar we raise goes right to them, to their community outreach.”

The event featured Brittney and the Boys, 40 Hours Over, The Dave Trinca Xperience, and Kings of the North.

Storey says each year, Sons of Kent Brewing donates a portion of their proceeds from the evening to the cause and the bands donate their time to the event.

“This will be our best year yet, we had a full house, people were incredibly generous. It’s been an incredible community support, and incredible team effort.”

This was the first in-person Holiday Jam since before the pandemic, and the most money raised since its inception in 2004.
