A convoy of emergency vehicles made its way through Chatham this weekend as local first responders helped dozens of kids have a memorable holiday season.
Volunteers from several emergency services took part in the 9th annual Holiday with a Hero event on Saturday. The event aims to foster positive relationships with emergency service personnel and supports kids and families.
A group of 60 nominated children were paired with a police officer, firefighter, or paramedic among others, and then provided a loaded gift card to purchase a gift for themselves and their families.
After shopping, the children had breakfast at McDonalds before heading to the Bradley Convention Centre. The kids played in game stations and visited with Santa while elves wrapped the newly acquired gifts.
Participating emergency services include the Ontario Provincial Police, the Chatham-Kent Police Service, Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services, and Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue.
