Home Sales Remain Hot in CK

Another banner month for home sales in Chatham-Kent.

The number of homes changing hands in June exceeded all Chatham-Kent records with 192 properties sold.

“While many other markets in Ontario are experiencing a cooldown from the breakneck pace of activity earlier this year, sales activity in the Chatham-Kent region shows no signs of slowing down,” Laura Tourangeau, President of the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors says. “New listings have surged back onto the market in a big way. However, the pace of demand is so hot right now that this much needed influx of new supply has only barely managed to keep overall inventories from falling any further.”

There were 234 new residential listings last month, the largest number of new listings added in the month of June in a decade. However, active listings took a bit of a dip, down 19% compared to June 2020 with 159 units.

The average price of homes sold last month was $413,862, up 26.4% from June 2020. The more comprehensive year-to-date average price was $405,533, a jump of 38.5% from the first six months of last year.
