Honouring Local Farmers

The Kent Agricultural Hall Of Fame is set to welcome several new members next month.

This year’s inductees into the Hall of Fame include the late George and Ruth Bieber. They are described as a vital farming couple from the Palmyra area who gave generously of their time and talent to serve the community. They worked hard to inspire the next generation of farmers.

Robert Lawrence Kerr was a learner and innovator in the organic farming industry. He also shared his observations with others.

And Dr. Arthur William Schaafsma. He is a small cash crop farmer, author and speaker and has done extensive work on insect and disease management at the University of Guelph Ridgetown campus.

Since its inception in 1989, the Kent Agricultural Hall of Fame has inducted 189 members and has supported another 17 Chatham-Kent agriculturalists into the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony is set for November 13th at Countryview Golf course beginning at 11:30am. Tickets are $25 apiece.
