Six people were killed in the attack at the Islamic Cultural Centre of Quebec shortly before 8 o’clock on Sunday evening.

“We extend our condolences to the victims of the Quebec City mosque shooting,” Mayor Randy Hope said in a statement. “The residents of Chatham-Kent stand with all Canadians in deploring the use of violence.”

39 people survived the attack, five of whom remain in critical condition in hospital today.

Two people were taken into custody last night, although at this point no charges have been laid.

While police say they don’t believe there are any other suspects, they’re not taking any chances.

The attack has been condemned as an act of terrorism by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Quebec’s Premier, Phillipe Couillard.
