Today is a day for Indigenous voices in Chatham-Kent and across the country.
This is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, honouring the lost children and survivors of residential schools, their families and communities.
The Survivors Flag, depicting elements representing all lives and communities impacted by the residential school system, was raised at the Civic Centre last Thursday.
A healing walk will make its way through downtown Wallaceburg later this morning, followed by a gathering at Civic Square Park.
Workshops to create orange shirt pins will be held at the public libraries in Tilbury and Wheatley today as well.
