The number of COVID patients being treated at the Health Alliance continues to rise.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance has 16 COVID-positive patients in care, 10 of whom are local residents and six from outside the municipality.

An outbreak was declared at the hospital on Wednesday with two patients contracting the virus in the Medicine Unit.

Occupancy of the intensive care unit is 90%, while the medical, surgical, and critical care beds are 84% full.

Meantime, the local vaccination effort is ramping up once again today with those 40 and older able to book their first shot at the mass vaccination clinic at the Bradley Centre.

Two mobile clinics are being held in the next few weeks, at the Wallaceburg Memorial Arena next Friday, and in Blenheim on the 30th.

So far, public health and its partners have administered over 37-thousand first doses in Chatham-Kent.
