It’s going to be another hot, humid week in southwestern Ontario.
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning, expected to last through Wednesday or Thursday with maximum temperatures as high as 36 Celsius and overnight lows only getting down to the low 20s.
Officials say in high temperatures and humidity, your body may not be able to cool properly which can lead to heat exhaustion or even heat stroke.
Symptoms of heat-related illness may include: rapid breathing, dizziness or fainting, vomiting, rapid heartbeat, and extreme thirst. If you have these symptoms, move to a shaded or air-conditioned area, drink plenty of fluids, and rest. Contact your health care provider, a friend or a family member.
Those experiencing homelessness or lacking shelter, water, or food are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of extreme heat.
Municipal centres and libraries will once again be available to get out of the heat during regular business hours, and Hope Haven on Wellington Street in Chatham is open 10am to 2pm as a cooling location.
