Huge Funding Boost for WMLA

A huge funding boost for a local lacrosse league.

The Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse Association is one of 500 recipients of this year’s Canadian Tire Jumpstart funding, worth $10,000.

The organization’s Sports Relief Fund is aimed at supporting organizations that have been impacted by COVID-19.

WMLA organizers say the money will allow them to install new a timer system for the new lights at the Lacrosse Courts and repair and replace damaged fencing.  Also, they’ll be able to buy new field lacrosse equipment, including nets, creases, sticks, balls, goalie equipment, so they can begin to offer safe outdoor activities for both box and field lacrosse.

The organization says it will also now be able to pay off some debt accumulated during the 2020 season because of the pandemic.

Officials say they are beyond grateful to receive the funding, and know the positive impact it will have on sport and recreation organization and kids across the country.
