Women United and Chatham-Kent Labour Council are celebrating a widely successful event to gather women’s hygiene products.
The event billed as Tampon Tuesday was held October 22nd in the United Way’s parking lot on McNaughton Ave West.
Over the course of the day their drive through donation setup received a total of 2,277 products. That is a 40 per cent increase over last year.
The group has already started to distribute the products to 17 organizations including food banks, shelters, church groups and outreach programs.
An addition to Tampon Tuesday’s emergency outreach recipients, menstrual care packages are also being handed out to local schools. By providing product directly to the schools, young ladies can access free (and discreet) help when they need it.
