Organizers are taking a big sigh of relief with this year’s Christmas in Muskoka fundraiser in the books.

Co-chair Shawn Moynihan says there’s a dedicated team that makes the event possible.

“We started this project back in August. There were 75 volunteers over the whole week working the front desk selling raffle tickets. I think we have 130 volunteers, a lot of friends, retired teachers, even some former students. It was just a great team who put on the event,” explains Moynihan.

While official figures haven’t been tallied quite yet, Moynihan says they’re hoping to have raised close to $100,000 to offset costs of students going to the Muskoka Woods leadership camp in the spring.

“Our crowds this year were larger than ever. On Friday night alone, the Community Night – we had over 800 people in the Armoury at one time.  If we get around the $90,000-$100,000 mark, it allows us to give every student $200 to offset the costs for them to go to camp,” says Moynihan.
