Thanks to hundreds of public tips received in 2024, Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers has helped police lay dozens of charges and take thousands of dollars’ worth of drugs off the street.
Crime Stoppers received a total of 531 tips last year, which led to 15 arrests and 43 charges laid. A total of 120 cases were cleared and officers were able to seize just over $110,000 in drugs.
Since inception in 1987 the Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers program has been responsible for seizing over $115-million worth of stolen property and illicit drugs, along with 340 illegal weapons.
“January is a wonderful opportunity to bring awareness to the Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers program,” said Erica McIntosh, Crime Stoppers Coordinator/ Investigative Services Support in a news release. “Our program is aimed at empowering community members to report suspicious or criminal activity anonymously.”
