
Police have issued hundreds of tickets and laid nearly a dozen charges following a week-long traffic campaign in Chatham-Kent.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers took part in Canada Road Safety Week from May 12-18, focusing on eliminating impaired, distracted, and aggressive driving, as well as failing to wear seat belts.
Local police issued 479 provincial offence notices during the campaign, including 364 for speeding. Five drivers were also issued seven-day licence suspensions.
As well, officers laid 10 criminal charges for various offences, including impaired driving, dangerous driving, and driving while prohibited.
A total of 1,478 vehicles by 13 R.I.D.E. programs throughout the seven-day campaign.
