A bike riding program for those with disabilities is returning to Chatham-Kent for the first time in five years.

The Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent is hosting the iCan Bike program throughout this week to teach those with a disability how to ride a conventional two-wheel bicycle and become lifelong independent riders.

The five-day program uses custom-designed adapted bike equipment with each daily session lasting for 75-minutes.

iCan Bike camps are run across Canada and the U.S. annually with 3,000 people with disabilities learning to ride a conventional two-wheel bike each year.

The program was made possible in Chatham-Kent through a grant funded by CPR the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association and the federal government.
