Two creative names have been chosen for the salt spreaders that will service schools in Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton.

Following a six-day voting period, the Lambton Kent District School Board has announced the winners of the board-wide “Name Our Salt Spreader” Contest.

The name chosen for the salt spreader in Chatham-Kent is “Ice, Ice, Salty,” which was submitted by Mrs. Brown and Mr. Haley’s Kindergarten Class at King George Public School in Chatham.

The winning name in Sarnia-Lambton is “Mr. Melt,” submitted by Mr. Corver’s Grade 6 Class at Rosedale Public School in Sarnia.

Each winning class will be awarded a pizza party, and their winning name will be displayed on the appropriate salt spreader’s carrier truck this winter.

At the beginning of the month, students across the school district submitted 83 creative salt spreader names for the contest. Community members cast 99,160 votes over the last week to determine the winning names.
