A special event is being held in Chatham this weekend, honouring the life and work of Stephen Leacock.
Hosted by The Veranda Presents, Clair Culliford will present an illustrated talk about the Canadian humourist, read three of his stories, and discuss the author’s life.
Between 1915 and 1925, Leacock was the best-known English-speaking writer of humour in the world, with many of his stories set in the small fictional Ontario town of Mariposa, the Spanish word for “butterfly.”
The event will take place on Saturday, March 29 in the meeting room at the Chatham-Kent Public Library in Chatham from 2 until 3:30.
A similar event is planned for next month, focusing on the poetry of Robert Frost.
