A Chatham man is facing half a dozen charges after an early morning crash in Chatham.
Around 2 o’clock this morning, officers were called to a St Clair Street parking lot with reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a dumpster and large blue garbage bin.
Suspecting the driver may have been impaired, a 21-year-old man was taken to police headquarters for breath and drug recognition evaluation – authorities say he tested positive for alcohol, antidepressants, and cannabis.
Further investigation found a number of stolen items in the vehicle, the car itself was stolen from a home in Chatham, and another car that had been parked in the same driveway was damaged.
The accused now faces several charges, including impaired driving, break and enter, theft, mischief, and possession of stolen property.
