Impaired Driving Charge Laid Following 401 Crash

A Chatham woman has been charged following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401.

The Ontario Provincial Police received a complaint on Wednesday at around 9:15 p.m. after a vehicle was seen driving erratically in the westbound lanes of the highway in Chatham-Kent.

The driver reportedly struck another vehicle and failed to stop. It is unknown if anyone was injured.

Following an investigation, a 65-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and is now charged with driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit and failing to remain at the scene of a collision. She was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and her vehicle will be impounded for seven days.
