Impaired driving charges have been laid against a local man.
Police spotted a vehicle in Chatham early Saturday morning with two flat tires and extensive body damage.
Authorities say the driver was pulled over and suspected to be under the influence.
The man was taken to police headquarters, where breath tests showed he had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system. Further investigation showed the accused also had a suspended license due to a previous stunt driving conviction.
The 21-year-old had his vehicle impounded for 45 days and was released with a future court date.
