Impaired Driving Charges Laid In Hwy. 40 Crash

A single-vehicle crash south of Wallaceburg has led to impaired driving charges for a Chatham woman.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers were called to the collision on Highway 40 near Greenvalley Line after it was discovered by Chatham-Kent EMS at around 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday.

The driver was not seriously injured and declined to be taken to a local hospital.

While speaking to the driver, officers observed signs of impairment and conducted a roadside sobriety test which registered a fail. The driver was then arrested and taken to the Chatham OPP detachment for further tests.

As a result, a 22-year-old Chatham woman is now charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol content over the legal limit. She was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and her vehicle will be impounded for a week.

She will answer the charges in court next month.
