Indwell Seeking Approvals For Supportive Housing Development

Affordable housing will be in the municipal spotlight tonight.

Indwell, a Christian-based charity, is looking to have a zoning bylaw change for the former St Agnes School property on Croyden Street in Chatham to include supportive housing as an additional permitted use, and allow for on-site parking.

The property was sold to Indwell by the St Clair Catholic District School Board in June, 2021.

The organization is looking to create a 95-unit affordable rental residential development with support services for tenants.

The development will include associated support staffing areas, amenities, and community spaces.

Chatham-Kent Council approved $9.7 million from strategic reserves for the project as part of the 2023 budget process.
