Officials with the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance are dealing with an outbreak of influenza.

Restrictions have been put in place for patients on the Medicine Unit B and Complex Continuing Care on the 4th floor of the Chatham Campus after several patients and staff tested positive with influenza A.

“This type of outbreak is not uncommon at this time of year,” CEO Lori Marshall says. “The precautions we are taking are in response to a cluster of patients experiencing these types of symptoms, and our staff and physicians are implementing various strategies to decrease the chances of others becoming ill.”

To help prevent the spread of the virus, officials are asking anyone who isn’t feeling well, particularly with flu-like symptoms, not to visit patients at the hospital for the time being.

All visitors are asked to use the main entrance until further notice.
