A temporary court order banning protesters from blockading wind turbine construction sites will stand – for now.
Presiding over a North Kent Wind injunction hearing, Justice Kirk Munroe says he had no desire to quash lawful opposition, but needs time to determine what constitutes “irreparable harm” to the business of North Kent Wind, and that terms like “harassment” and “intimidation” are clearly enforceable.
Pattern Development says Water Wells First protesters had trespassed or vandalized almost a dozen other wind turbine construction sites prior to last month’s blockade on Bush Line.
Water Wells spokesman, Kevin Jakubec, says he will accept restrictions, preventing any further blockades or disruption at NKW sites to keep the peace.
Both sides have said that tensions are running high, which can lead to the potential for harm.
A decision is expected on Monday.
