Activists say the case of an injured migrant worker highlights the need for better protections for seasonal agriculture workers in Canada. A 33-year-old Jamaican man fell off a scissor lift at work in June, injuring his back, but is now being sent back to his home country where he won’t be able to receive the specialized care he needs.
Justice for Migrant Workers spokesman Chris Ramsaroop says that’s the way it is. The group Justice for Migrant Workers is urging the federal government to act and provide better protection for seasonal workers.
