After 26 years, a Wallaceburg internet provider is powering down.
Internet Kent owner Joe Perry is retiring, and says as of December 31st, the company won’t be offering internet service, but DLS and email customers will be taken care of.
“We’ve arranged deals with other providers to help offload the customers to them, it’ll be seamlessly done so they don’t have to make any equipment changes or setting changes,” Perry says. “All they have to do is opt in, we’ll give their information to the new provider and they just arrange billing with the new company and keep on going without making any changes to anything.”
Perry has been at the helm of Internet Kent since its inception in 1995, and says he’ll always be grateful to the community for its support.
“Wallaceburg’s been so good to us, we’re not going to just hightail and leave town because we care about these people. They’ve supported us over the years. There’s the love, you know? They pick you over the big companies, they support you because you’re local. We wouldn’t have been as successful as we have if it wasn’t for this great community we’re in.”
Existing customers who would like to maintain their kent.net email address will have to fill out a transfer form on the company’s website – CLICK HERE for more details.
