The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been contacted to help investigate an apartment fire in Wallaceburg.
Fire fighters were called to 800 Wallace Street around 9 o’clock Sunday morning.
As fire fighters quickly doused the flames, the building was evacuated.
About a dozen residents had to be rescued from their balconies, but Chatham-Kent Police say no one was hurt.
A number of pets were also brought to safety.
Police are also extending their thanks to various community partners who stepped in to provide assistance for residents who were displaced from their homes.
Meantime, anyone who might be able to provide police with any information about the fire is asked to call Detective Constable Rob Bowels at [email protected] or 519-436-6655.
