Chatham-Kent Police are investigating an incident involving a young offender near Chatham-Kent Secondary School this morning.
Authorities learned that someone brandishing what appeared to be a firearm was outside the school property. Several schools in the area were then placed under lockdown procedures.
Police say a young offender matching the description provided to officers was found in the area, along with a replica airsoft gun.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, and there is no information indicating an immediate threat to the school or surrounding community.
