Irate Driver Flees From Police At High Speeds

An arrest has been made after police were led on a high-speed chase through Wallaceburg.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a residence in Wallaceburg at around 10:30 a.m. on Friday after an irate man was heard screaming while in a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the residence.

Officers arrived at the scene and learned that the man was in breach of his court-ordered conditions, which prohibited him from attending the home or communicating with individuals at the location.

When police instructed the man to exit the vehicle, he refused and drove off at a high rate of speed. He was seen travelling south on Chestnut Drive as he continued through the neighbourhood at around 80 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

The suspect vehicle was located and stopped the following day on St. Clair Road in Chatham.

A 38-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested at the scene and charged with flight from police, dangerous operation, and three counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was held in custody pending his next court appearance.
